Default Speed Camera Vans in Scotland

Just wondering, do they work in the same way (procedure wise) as the Camera Vans in England/Wales?

For example if caught, is it usually a fixed penalty in the post type of affair, or do they have a weird law up there where you're hauled up to appear in front of a Sheriff?

Ouch, harsh!

I was doing less than that, somewhere about the limit +10/12mph or thereabouts IIRC, on the motorway.
