All goods sites. Maybe an owners club website would also be a good place to look.

Why specifically the Pug? Just thinking there are a number of good motors that would suit your needs is all!

5t.

I know insurance is your biggest problem being your first car but for £1000 you can buy a hell of alot better than a 106 now that still wouldnt hurt the insurance.

Oh and Ive always found ebay or autotrader the best for searching for cars unless its a specific model then I look at owners clubs

you may even stretch to a focus for that money now.

must admit, I have never liked 106's.

In 2004 me and my pal passed our tests around the same time. We both got clio's. His was a P reg with 60000 miles on the clock...it was mint! Shame he hit a straining post with it and wrote it off. Think he paid 1200 or so for that. Just get something basic and with decent handling.

The 1.2 clio I had is the most fun I've had in any car...just because it was my first. Don't think I'd have liked a polo...not very nimble, and a bit sluggish.

The good thing about 106's is that parts are dirt cheap.

i've only been driving 7months and it was 1400 full comp. and thats in Northern Ireland so it'll be a good bit cheaper on the mainland.

How many other 1.6 engines have 120bhp, go on matey do the right thing out run a scooby 1.6gl all day long

BigJay - you are a good bit older than the OP though IIRC?

Scooby_69er - You should definetly be looking for a small engine - 1.2 ish - hatchback. Plenty of fun, and cheap to run. You'll no doubt be out in it all the time anyway since it's gonna be you're first car, so get something that will be cheap to run. Chasing birds etc is more important than driving a quick car IMO.

Big difference to a 17/18yr old insurance wise. I'm 21 now, and the difference in the way I think about driving between then and now is like day and night.

My girlfriend got a 1.0 corsa 3dr 02 plate with 40k on the clock. It's mint and only cost her about 1100/1200 quid IIRC.
