Default Smokers - more or less?

With the ban on smoking in a lot of public places and, more recently, the credit crunch, do you think there is more or less smokers around than there was, say 5 years ago??

I personally can't stand walking through a cloud of smoke as workers stand outside their offices and I actually think there's more smokers outstside the doorway of offices local to me than there as this time last year.

I gave up very nearly 10 years ago .................... I cannot even imagine smoking now.

I also don't think I would have lived til now - I was wheezing, had a heavy chest and just felt 'ill' ..................... couldn't be more different now

Is it the ban that has led to all the pub closures or other factors?

Snap!

Had to spend all the money saved on a new wardrobe for my new physique.

Strange that even after 18 months it could be so easy to puff again Not going to happen though. Not sure i would have the willpower to go through it again.

Congratulations on your first day! It will be tough but IF YOU want to stop you will.

The NHS were brilliant with me went on a programme of patches and a dedicated helper she was fantastic, Encouragement all the way and some others in the same group struggled at the start but she didn't patronize, just kept us all focused.

IT WAS FOC AS WELL.

Not at all, they are more busy now I have read, as normal people can go there and relax and not have to wash ones garments when getting home

I think it probably depends on the pubs concerned. I don't go out very much anymore, but me and the other half decided to pop out for a drink recently, and compared to what it used to be like, it was absolutely dead.

Tbh, even as a smoker, it wasn't particularly nice fighting through a crowd of people, and cloud of smoke just to get in and out of the place. I also felt a bit sorry for a poor young lass left sitting on her own while all her friends went outside for a smoke.

I gave up 12 years ago thank goodness. It is true that you dont realise how objectional it is until after you stop. The difference in my finances was instant of course and I was able to get a much better car surprisingly quickly.

I think there are significantly less people smoking now, which can only be a good thing, for them and everyone else.

day 10 for me and the missus, i was on 40 a day and she was on 20 so gonna be saving over 400 a month now, got this far which aint all that long but i think to myself if i do have a *** then i let myself down and gotta go through it all again to stop cos i just cannot justify over 400 a month spent on nothing, might just as well burn ten pound notes and try and smoke them.

damian..

I thinks its more likely down to the "credit crunch" we are in at the minute, saying that every friday and saturday down my two locals are still rammed.

Don't go to the pub much and don't smoke but when walking past any pub looks dead inside but the smokers outside seem to be having a great party.
The draw of the elicit I guess
