Play.com Delivery Times

Stopped using them as they have gone down hill in my experience. They used to be great, good prices and fast delivery. I ordered a couple of UMD's for a present 2 weeks before Christmas and said were in stock. They never arrived and I checked my account after Christmas to say out of stock and on order so cancelled. Not using them again and I also find their prices are no where near as competitive as they used to be. Shopto.net for console games and HMV for DVD's for me now.
And yes they send a despatch email.

I have been using them for years and only ever had one negative issue with them which was quickly resolved.
Once items are marked as dispatched they normally arrive within 3-4 days.
Nik.

I know a few idiots that work for them which is enough for me never to buy from them again. I've had HD-DVD's take weeks upon weeks to arrive from them.

Order from them quite often, and normally things arrive within 3 or 4 days. Over Xmas it was taking a bit longer, but everything I ordered as presents a week before still arrived in time.
Remember that it isnt Play who deliver your items - doesnt matter how fast the post them out if Royal Mail decide to drag their feet or lose it.

I use them a lot and never have a problem. You get an email notifying of despatch and stuff arrives 2-5 days after ordering (I never pay for rapid delivery as I;m not convinced it makes any difference, and it's hard to care too much when a DVD or game turns up - life's too short!)

I have ordered a few times from them and has arrived within a few days.
Items always have arrived separately even if ordered at same time and in stock.
I don't think they send dispatch emails, but if you check the status of your order online it will come up as posted if they have dispatched.

I've never had a problem with play.com but 2 items my girlfriend ordered have failed to turn up. She reported 1 of them as not having been delivered on 5th December, having ordered it on November 21st, and she got an email saying it would take 28 days to investigate. Not much help when we wanted the goods for a christmas present

Is it common for something thats 'in stock' when you place and order / receive confirmation: to be mysteriously 'awaiting stock' when you progress the order?

I tend to stay away from Play these day - Unless it is for something that is ridiculously cheap and I don;t care when it arrives. For games/DVDs that absolutely have to arriv eontime I use Gamplay.co.uk, or Amazon, or sometimes, the amazingly fantastic, shopto.net
