Anyone ever had ear impressions done, im looking at having some custom iems made but never ventured into it.

What's the typical going rate for impressions anyway.

Depends what you're having done, but standard ear plugs (as per shooting etc) are around £100.

They get a bit pricier if you want in-ear monitors

Got a photo of a mate having his done at Music Live a couple of years ago, grinning idiot with what looks like a tampon string sticking out of each ear!!!

I had some custom ear plugs made. Very simple and not cheap at all at £170.

However they are bloody brilliant and -15dB cut.

Infact Dan's description of the process is pretty accurate.

I've got a set of ER15's by these guys

Yeah i was after some in ear monitors and as you say they cost a small fortune, trouble is my new player has shown up my ultimate ears super fi 5 pro iems so they have to go.

After extensive chasing ive chosen sleek customs, meant to be one of the best atm.

Sleek Customs - Custom Earphones - Sleek Audio Store

You chan choose any aspect, the colour, plug postition even tuning the frequency response to your preference.

Ive chosen the black glitter.

Ive managed to sort a booking out to have the impressions done, should cost about £40, there's an agent to the hearing company that goes around the county to wherever he's needed.

They are all ordered now i just have to send the impressions off and wait.

Advanced Communication Solutions - Cutting edge in-ear technology (ACS near oxford) did mine a few years ago- they have local audiologists around the uk who take impressions for them, send them off and then they arrive a week later.
No problem when i order replacement filters/blanks (-15/25 is not enough sometimes...) - very quick service and very helpful. Can't recommend them more highly.

I'm a sound engineer in some of the best clubs in the world, and the amount of A list Djs and prominent live acts that I work with that have plugs or monitors done by the same compay is rather high.

Andy himself did mine, and Freak, I agree with you, his client list is rather impressive to say the least.
