double click on the name again scroll to the top and click clear chat history.

The person is not online so I cant delete .. but if "the person" comes back online the chat will come back up .

Just delete that person as a friend then they wont appear again to chat to thus text gone.
I've never had to clear any history though.

there is another option go online and look in the bottom right hand corner, theres a person symbol with a green light. click on that and you can disable chat. HTH
