Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Xmas message?
What do you think?
Obviously Channel 4 have their "edgy and contentious (read deliberately confrontational, condescending and right-on)" reputation to uphold, but is Xmas really a good time to air the views of someone who wants to destroy Israel.

I think its a good idea. Its on after 7 I think.
Iran's Ahmadinejad to give alternative Christmas message - Times Online
There's a few quotes in there, nothing too bad. Obviously a political dig at the World Police force that is the USA. I think the Israel condemnation of his choice by C4 is to be expected. But it's important to understand Irans viewpoint. Something the Western media generally fails to do.

I have one question - would our prime minister be allowed to broadcast an Eid message to Iran on one of their national TV stations?
I doubt it so let's hope Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has learnt something about free speech!

I agree it should not have been aired and no doubt there was some political motive behind it but comments like yours are showing that SNet is becoming an intolerant forum for people to vent their hate.
Regarding his quote: "Wiped Off The Map" - The Rumor of the Century
The media is very good at taking things out of context but I wish people on here didn't do the same.
It seems everyone outside of Iran seems to think the place is still in the dark ages but I did some googling and found most of Iran to be a very beautiful place... just has a crackpot president

i did watch this - in the preamble to the speech, the commentator pointed out the 'failings' of this country (nuclear bomb ambitions, poor record on human rights etc..), so the viewer could judge the speech against this. The president sound very reasonable (whether u believed him or not was up to the viewer - which is why we have free speech). It was advertised as the "Alternative Christmas Speech"

The OP spelt the speakers surname wrong for it is Mahmoud Where'smydinnerjacket...
As for whether Channel 4 should show it well; Channel 4's demographic is mainly 18-30 year olds with apsirations of intelligence and liberalism, so yes, their attitude to pointless controversy means they were the perfect platform to broadcast this. Their viewers would lap it up.
Personally I would rather pickle my gonads in a rancid turkey broth than watch Mahmoud Where'smydinnerjacket preach to me about Team America on xmas day.

I am within thast demography but i find anything Channel4 to do, ****E. I have never once watched a programme on it that wasn't completely one sided or made in order to ridicule people. Its a TV channel i would love to see dissolved. Especially all that T4 crap.
If anyone thinks they are intelligent because they learnt a FACT from a Channel4 documentary, they are infact LOSERS. nuff said.
