every year a get a box of hankerchiefs from my missus's nan. never used one, i'd rather use a tissue then put it in the bin. the idea of snotting into a rag and then keeping it in my pocket for later is just wrong

Erm... my other halfs nan is the winner for giving naff presents... tight as a ducks **** she is

Previous years gifts include:

A bag of chocolate covered peanuts
A fairy doll ( given that i was 28 at the time )
A pair of nylon knickers.. which were immediately put in the rag bank at tesco

I dread unwrapping her gifts each year as you have to pull one of those 'wow, thats so lovely' faces when all you really want to do cringe!!

It sounds horrible, and i know it's not the cost of the present, but the thought - there is no thought from her! We all say we wished she didnt bother

Love the Woolies vouchers

I can still remember - 50 years on - that all I wanted as a 10 year old was a bike like all my mates had. That would have been a "Sun" racey looking model with a million gears and drop handlebars.

I can remember coming down stairs and my "sensible" dad had got me some 3 tonne 3 speed monster that a copper might have used to cycle through the village.

The thought was there but....................

lol there seems to be certain theme of parents buying completely the wrong thing here !
No worries as my mother is just the same she still thinks she know better than every one else in what I want, despite giving her a list & where to buy from, I asked for one thing and I have 7 items wrapped which I just know are not going to be worth opening ! Hopefully there is still room in the top cupboard ! It may sound selfish but just buy the item on the list and don't buy the tat that wont get used.

The fact that i said to her, "I want the bumper and my new spoiler sprayed, so you can get me that for xmas" was met with "I'M NOT BUYING YOU THINGS FOR YOUR CAR!" then she goes and spends more than getting my car sprayed on tat

I got a very drunken brother on the phone this afternoon slurring about how he didn't get me anything because he didn't think I'd bother getting him anything. GIT - I spent £100 on the ****. Didn't even apologise really. And he wonders why I don't always want to be around him.
