iPhone Help
Ok, got a 3G 8Gb Iphone today, and its took me quite a while to work out where to put the sim card
We bought it from o2 and it says insert vaild unlocked sim in the phone
Now I have a blackberry on o2 same contract, so I took the SIM out of my blackberry and put it in the Iphone
and it says something about plugging a cable in, and will only let me make emergency calls
And why the hell don't they ship these things with a manual

How strange is that for a phone
I guess I would be completly foofed if I didn't have a computer
Can I ask why I need iTunes though? if im only going to use it as a phone and email (exchange server)

And if you have an iPhone you may as well load some movies and music to while away those long boring meetings.

I had the same thing, no manual then realised I had to hook it to the PC.
Had 8 work phones so had to do it to all of them was a right pain in the ar$e.
I don''t recommend going to applications and searching for mobile ebay and downloading for free. I did that and now I spend my meeting buying things I don't need such as towels and Tottenham toilet paper.

LOL
Got it working now, will I have to do it again if I change the SIM for another one?
I might end up having some more to configure when I go back to work
Im only playing about with this one so I can set it up for my Boss, but he still has his blackberry with his SIM card in it, and I wont see him now till January

Steve - the phone just needs to be activated when a new SIM is put into it.
The iPhone's a really nice piece of kit for leisure stuff, but its no corporate workhorse.... I have a 16GB 3G one for the apps and the web, but use a Blackberry BOLD for email and instant messenger.
**edited as I wrongly put the Storm and I think the Storm is crap!!** lol

Did anyone see the Gadget show reviews / comparison test with the iphone, Blackberry storm etc?
Depends what you want in a phone, but I don't like any of them, and seeing them all on that show confirmed what I thought about them.
Each to their own and all that (apart from the isheep)

Just looked at this - and it confirmed my thoughts too. Great advancements in technology, but not far enough yet for me to convert I SOOO wanted a Storm, but after a 5min play in the Voda shop, I walked back out empty-handed!
The iphone, I love, but I'm not paying that much for a phone on an exclusive provider (I'm on Voda anyway with a fantastic contract)
The other two - meh.......
In the meantime, I'll stick to my old N95, and Ipod Touch (which does everything else!)

We use them for work a lot. Email is fine but the calendar function is crap. If you update, move or cancel a meeting it usually ends up getting it wrong so we put our heavy calendar users on Windows Mobile Nokias.

Rev how are they finding them for email with the touch screen instead of a keyboard?
We will need the calendar function to work pretty well, or if Microsoft Dynamics 4 does a mobile version then that will be better, as we are just switching to CRM 4
