Exclamation Flu Epidemic on the way!

Public health officials said 200 cases per 100,000 would signal an epidemic.

Likewise throwing up everywhere, if you name most of the ailments that people have caught in recent weeks i have more than likely been through them all in the last 3 weeks.

Not nice.

But on the upside it's coming to an end!!!

Took a lot of vit c/astragalus and echinacea to shift the bastid though.

The actual strain of flu that is doing the rounds (not to be confused with upset tummies, colds - lovingly called by some as "man-flu" or herpes) is no higher than the average for this time of year.
It is simply at the levels it was at 10 years ago and for many years before that.

The best way to not catch it is to not breathe or touch anything while out of the house. I made it to the corner of the street before but had to breathe out and in

Lots of people have had it at work - me included came on very quick as well - all down to stupid people that come into work with cold and spread their germs to everyone else.
Can think of 2 or 3 people who are extremely bad for this & 2 of these people are not what you all good workers either !

Never had flu.... Good for you guys.

I have felt like I was on the verge of dying for weeks now (maybe over reacting but not by much)

First I thought it was flu coming on, but quickly it turned out to be the tummy bug (will not go into all the details), only it has now lasted for a few weeks, and I ended up in hospital. It eventually is easing a bit, only quickly the dreaded flu symptoms are coming back.

I'm bloody fed up to say the least.

My other half is really poorly at the mo'. Not like me to be sympathetic, but this is not like him at all. He is not a Man Flu person either.

yeah, but how many of those increased GP consultations have been by people who have gone in there with a sniffle saying to the GP they've got flu because they've read it in the paper?

as someone has already put in this thread, it's no worse than a bad case 9 years ago, yet year on year thanks to press over exageration we're led to believe it'll wipe out mankind.

it's very crap to be ill over christmas, i was in A+E last xmas day and my mum was in from boxing day until about 4th Jan with pnumoniua(?), so i know no-one wants to be ill, but it just all seems a load of cobblers to me.

still, the pharmacutical companies are doing a roaring trade though. i'm sure it's an 'unexpected' bonus for them

I have had it now a week and I can honestly say I have never felt so ill in all my life, last time I had a headache like this was when my brain tumour was removed and I was on morphin for that, I have just come of the phone after having to cancel christmas dinner, the top of my head is like a furnace and If I'm not careful when I move I go so dizzy I nearly fall over, This morning I did manage 2 pieces of toast but could'nt manage anything else, I just want this nightmare to end
Cheers

Now this is proper flu - I had the same in 1990 and 1995, I was waiting for another in 2000, but thankfully never arrived

I was ill, very ill for two weeks and another week to recover enough to do most things. I remember that it was really nasty and understand how it kills weaker people.
