Well; finally succumbed to the man-flu


any advice on tried and tested flu remedies? I get flu about once or twice a decade- so have no real idea other than painkillers and fluids..

I had it a month ago - in bed for 5 days! I normally take aspirin, but they did nothing for the awful shivers I had. Paracetomol really worked, make sure you keep it up every 4 hours. Can't remember the brand, but I think it might have been Lemsip Max strength. Good luck!

I was told plenty of liquids and keep up the diet

Para's, 1/2 bottle of Whisky, central heating up full, sweat buckets. Wake up with a banging head, more para's, force (and you really have to force) yourself on a minimum 5 mile walk, more para's and whisky.

Next day, right as rain

I havent been able to wangle an entire day in bed ( i wish) wife and 7yr old - no chance...

Still got the shivers after 4 days

HAHA. Always got to laugh at people that say this.

If you have got 'flu (ie, influenza), you will be dead to the world for a few weeks, and unable to move, eat, drink, get out of bed!!! You'll feel like death warmed up, and, of course, it IS a life-threatning condition for the young, ill, or elderly.

Sadly, too many people seem to think they have the 'flu, when in reality, they have the common cold, and/or a similar virus....which you can get over the worst effects of in a day or two.

Take the juice of one lemon, two table spoons of honey, three fingers of whisky and mix together in a mug or robust tumbler. Top up with boiling water. Drink. Repeat until you fall asleep or get better.

Paracetamol two 500mg tabs every 6 hrs, half a litre of water every six hours till it goes.

Last night I had some WIERD lucid dreams non stop too.. nowt like sleeping when you have a fever
Dreamt I crashed the scoob at high speed on the way down to Le Mans was a horrendous dream too.. far too lucid for my liking.

The Mrs said I was thrashing about like a loon in bed and roasting hot- she went downstairs to kip on the sofa..
I woke up @ 10am this morning ( a HUGE lay in for me) and feel worse today than I have all weekk.. b0llocks.

only slight hitch in getting better is that I defo have sinus infection now
Wasnt 100% sure until this morning...
Look like I've been in the ring with a heavyweight! doh..

and of course being the easter weekend- no friggin doc's until tuesday to get some antibiotics for it

bring on the whisky and honey.
