Probably a bit advanced but there are also "logic" gate symbols in electronics too. Plus pics for bulbs, LEDs, etc.

You could get her to REALLY impress teacher by quoting that the British Standard for Electrical Symbols is BS EN 60617 (BS3939)

They are all here:-

i've got a full set of P&ID symbols at work if you like.

for those that want to know P&ID stands for proccess and instramentation diagram, which is the basic system by which a mechanical and electrical system is designed

At that age, the ones she'll want are: cell, battery, bulb, wires, resistor, ammeter, voltmeter, maybe electric motor, maybe speaker, maybe microphone, fuse.

Add in variable resistor, diode, thermistor and LDR when she gets a bit older

There is one correction on avfc's list there Sara, three down on the right hand column; a circle with an M inside it is an electric motor not a meter

Sarah: battery > switch > light bulb, should be more than enough. Id expect her teacher to be quite impressed.

There's some odd symbols there - I'm guessing that Matteeboy's chart is a key to an automotive wiring diagram or similar. It's certainly not an accurate list of conventional electronic symbols and is likely to be marked wrong

avfc_mad's table is more accurate and appropriate for school electronics, and the one on the GCSE Physics site is OK too. Personally I'd also include the symbols for a resistor, capacitor and transistor, I knew what they were when I was 8
