As for what makes me feel warm and festive, well, I don't normally put the decorations et al up until I've finished work (Lecturer), however, because it's so late this year, I've decided to sort it all out this weekend.
What has kicked off my festiveness is that I bought the tree yesterday, set it up to let the branches hang properly, and then when to pick up my two kids from the school "disco" (remember those? My two aren't even 9!! )
When we got home, I told them there was a surprise in the house..... off they went searching.... then I heard the gasps of delight from my 5-yr old as she finds the Xmas tree
Christmas can be a very false time of year (putting the religious aspect aside), however, the wonderment, mystery and excitement it causes young kids as brilliant!!!
Watching my two yesterday night brought me all the warmth I need
Soppy, I know, but nevertheless, true.

It's not Christmas until you've heard Fairytale of New York on the radio
Just got tickets to see the Pogues on the 15th too, woo woo
Also, watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, and It's a Wonderful Life
And of course putting decorations up, yaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Always know it's christmas when I see the coca cola christmas advert, the one with the lorry and santa o the back, and love the music which goes with it.
Also Sana Claus the movie, the one with Dudley Moore

The new year Not a massive Xmas fan I think it needs to go back to how it used to be about family and spending time with th eones you love, not how big a prezzie you buy and how much you spend.

You know its Christmas when you go into the supermarket, and end up buying nothing as all the shelves have been cleared by the those idiot panic buyers.
(I had a Pot noodle for my Christmas dinner that year)
What makes me warm at Christmas is sunbathing by the hotel pool on my Christmas holiday in the sun.
Bah, humbug

Just walked around Manchester's Christmas market, the band, the smells, the coldness, very festive, and a mug of mulled wine to warm me up.....loverly.
Then we visited the PanAsia for a buffet banquet the best, made me feel festive ish.
Spoilt by the old women Gypsie beggars shaking coffee cups and offering heather, I wouldnt mind but she didnt even see me getting out of my Shogun.....
Oh and the £4.80 for two hours parking.... " in the road ", and of course the £4 for a swigg of warm wine.
I dont spend much time in Manchester, maybe 3-4 visits a year, but what I have noticed is the traffic wardens in RED suits, batton torches, steel toe capped boots, thick tool belts with everything except an Uzi 9mm dangling heavily from them, trying their hardest to look like SAS personnel going into an embassy seige situation, whats that all about ?
Reading this back, I sound like Victor Meldrew.
Tonights festive treats....watch PeterPan with my son, then read a few more chapters from his Polar Express Book without him actually ripping the pages out, get him off to sleep.
Then back down stairs for a couple of X0's, X factor and bed, my life is complete....
