Default Fine Watch Auction 10/12/08

For those off you who are looking for a 'new' used watch... have a look here.
reputable auction house, and some of the Rolex are being sold on behalf of the metropolitan Police!

Dreweatts 1759 :: Donnington Priory

Rolex/Cartier etc etc.
http://www.dnfa.com/donnington/search.asp?view=keyword&auction=13015&keyword=||&l otno=&noperpage=20&cat=&pg=120&orderby=&noofresult s=181&catname=Clocks%20%26%20Watches

Might be worth a look if you have some spare cash.

I went to the Nottm auction yesterday of general antiques/clocks and collectables and stuff either didn't sell or only just reached the min valuation price.

Some interesting looking bits on there, I'd have to do a lot of research before going to an auction as I've no idea on prices at all.

Right up my street:

just remeber the 20% + vat buyers premium, but even with that you'll get a good watch for that money.. if it doesn't fo too high.

There's some nice Cartier's that an Asian collecter's selling, LOS 155 + 154
Property of an Asian Collector Subject to 17.55 VAT and 0.35% Import Duty on the Hammer Price

Dreweatts 1759 :: Donnington Priory

the vat rate will be down by the time thsi auctions comes around.

Some valuations seem extremely conservative, even allowing for the buyers premium.

I doubt that the 'credit crunch' will affect peoples bids on a used £200 Longines watch!

I thought that. the longines is a mechanical wind-up though so isn't to a lot of peoples taste. . . . If it reaches 250 it'll be 345 all in, including 20% fee and vat.

I think you can do telephone bids and internet 'live' bids too if that helps anyone bidding.

I wussed out in the end. It was my sons nativity at school. Too much bad karma if I'd missed that for a watch auction. . . .

Dont worry. the next one will be even better !! Prices have fallen so much that some dealers i know will not even buy. They are too scared of losing even more money.

And as for classic cameras !!!

So the Longines Avigation, estimate £150-250, sold for £380 Scoobynet should get a commission on that

Most stuff went for £2-300 over the estimates. The two rolexes I looked at weren't such bargains once you added the 20% and 15% on TBH.

I did say that I thought the valuations low, even allowing for the addition of buyers premium and VAT.
