Tattoo opinions....
Right All
I am having a tattoo dedicated to my daughter (Mia)….. I do not want a pic of her but she will be represented as a star.
The star will make up the middle of the tattoo…. Anyway, I was thinking of having a Japanese-y feel to the background… eg.. running water etc…
But Mia is Argentinean so I was maybe also thinking something appropriate to that…. But I can not think of anything….
Any suggestions one way or the other are more than welcome….
Ps.. The tattoo will be on my calf.
Thanks
Ian

Japanese stuff is always cool, You can get a vivid colours in there without it looking to busy.
If the ocean means something then go for that, sounds good.
Have a gander here Japanese Tattoos & Tattoo Designs Guide, Japanese Letter Art, Animal, Kanji, Samurai, Fish, Cherry Blossom, Mask, Sleeve, Back Tattoos Design Ideas & Picture Gallery might help.

It might be worth having a look on some Argentinian tattoo sites for inspiration. A quick Google brought this up: baradastattoos.com
There's some amazing stuff there

My advice would be to go to a tattoo artist who knows what they are doing, tell him the story/reasons behind it, and leave it with him.
Its their job, trust them.

I would have them but not plastered all over my arms etc.
The do tend to be a "right of passage" for chavs - sorry but they do.
I can't have them anywhere too visible anyway due to my work. I had planned to have this on the top of my thigh at some point.
Just him though.

Back to the op.
I agree with the earlier points about getting good advice from a skilled artist, looks like that's what you did and have a pretty decent result.
Each to their own and all that but the constantly repeated stuff about being chavvy and looking weird in older age are fairly old views now as body modification, in all it's various forms, is quite commonplace now.
Anyway, it's nice that you have permanently dedicated a piece of yourself to show the love for your child, whatever anyone else may say.

a transformer - you're kidding right ?
personally, as Ozzy said- wanna be an individual, don't get a tattoo.
up to you, some love stickers all over their scoobys, some don't.
I don't and can't stand them. I wouldn't even have a girlfriend with a tattoo- it just says chav to me. sorry.
might be commonplace- doesn't mean its any good though.

I should have added, peoples definition of what a chav is is sooooo varied so that side of things is irrelevant and just comes across as an attempt at abackhanded insult.
As said, it's down to personal choice, if you don't like them, you don't like them, so don't get one
I don't like so-called 'tramp-stamps' or whatever they are called and would not be so happy with a gf having one of those either, though I don't mind a tastefully placed bit of art

I read about many things on Scoobynet that i don't like but I dont post my disapproval on those threads because its of no use to the OP.
I only post if I approve. Unless of course the OP is asking for advice.
If some think Tats are chavy I can see why. Personally I think they look great.
I have loved them since I was a very young boy and vowed to have them when I grew up. I have been tattooed for over 18 years and regret none. so much so I am having plenty more.
Horses for courses people.

So are you saying that there are more people with, than without, tattoos, with that individuality statement

Having an 8" or 9" tattoo of Megatron seems unbelievable as shown by austinwrx yet I think it would be very cool. At the very least I will have the decepticon symbol on my left shoulder.
As for tramp stamps they are uber chav.

its horses for courses isn't it: personally just think the human body can look beautiful without adorning it or piercing it.
I love my plain black, standard, unmodified impreza.
wouldn't dream of sticking stuff all over it. it looks just great to me.
maybe I'm a bit older and set in my ways.
when I grew up, no one got a tattoo. well one *** at school did to be a rebel, but he just got beat up for being sad.

Makes me laugh all these Chav comments! I agree with Dan - you can't judge anyone by whether they have tattoos!
I have four - including what many of you term as a 'tramp stamp', which is a tattoo designed for me in memory of one of the dearest people to me. I have them all on my torso so that I get to choose who sees them AND because it would be inappropriate in my job, for them to be in places they can be seen (hence the lower back was the first one).
Just because people choose to have tattoos doesn't make them chav's, tacky or any other derogatory term people choose to use to describe what isn't to their personal preference.
I'm a barrister and many are surprised when they find out I'm tattooed!
To the OP, I think that's a lovely piece - congrats on getting it done!

The chav definition is varied for sure. To me the names of relatives in big letters up your arms says chav in my mind. My wife has our daughters name on her wrist - this I think is chav. She also has E in chinese writing on her ankle - this isn't too chav to my mind.
