Tourists would normally feel safer in the places like Oberoi and Taj, but they got there too Shame on the loss of lives, so on the destruction of Taj Hotel.

Which could well result in even more anti-West feelings in India and then Pakistan as they will see the presence of Westerners being the problem.

And without their support the West is stuffed in Iraq and especially Afghanistan.

What a bloody mess. Hope they can pull out the hostages sooner rather than later. dl

Very highly unlikely David, up until now the terrorism in India has been focused on Indians only. The targeting of Westerners will have seriously embarassed the Hindus, Muslims, Govt and Security services. Trust me, the public backlash will be against the terrorists not the tourists.

For all their faults now their minds are focused by events it would not be a good time to be a terriorist in India. They have far more resource to throw at this than we do in humint terms (and they don't worry themselves too much about the human rights of the criminal!)

The guests are now being brought out of the Taj Palace hotel by soldiers so it would appear that the situation there may be easing although hostages are still being held in the Trident Oberoi.
