Default Ryanair prices

I could have cried, lol.

Were off to spain for a cheap 1 week break, nothing flash, just staying in a friends villa while we look at another apartment we might rent short-term over the winter. Cant stand these cold UK winters any longer.

Anyway, Ryanair were doing £5 flights up until midnight tonight. We got back in about 11pm and went straight online to book them. Grrrrr, they had put them up to £46!!!! So for two of us instead of being £20, it would have been almost £200!

Sod it we thought, we just wont go or we'll see which other airline has some cheap deals.

Bugger me, just after midnight Ryanair put them down to £1, lol. So, thats £4 for two people, there and back + fees/baggage

Be careful with the baggage, they have a really low limit that catches so many people out they have to have crowd control at the ticket desk.

Read the small print, if you play by the rules its cheap, if you dont you'll be charged. They are a business and that's just how they make their money back. First time we used them we thought we would put all three of the kids luggage in one case together. Even though the total weight only came to just over half the allowance, Because it was all in one case and overweight we got charged for being over.

£12 per kg over the hand or checked allowance

10kg hand

15kg checked {this will cost you about £8 each way per bag also iirc}

Advanced boarding {to avoid the seat scramble about £8 each way PP}

decent flights and planes, we used them for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had no complaints.

Last time we flew with them there was a family of African origin at the next check-in with some very large suitcases. I overheard them being told that they had to pay £400 for the excess weight. The scene was interesting to say the least!

Make sure you have access to some scales at either end of your journey otherwise you will get stung.

The total cost for 2 people return including all fees/charges cost a grand total of £52

We're travelling light so hopefully shouldnt exceed the 15kg limit.

thats pretty impressive when the fees for paying by debit card are £8 plus taxes and fees going out of £26.85 and coming back £16.27 thats all each and no hand luggage. The debit card fee is the one that really pisses me off. £4 for each flight even though they're booked together.

Hand luggage you can get away weight wise with a fair bit if you cram it in never been stopped so far as long as the bag isn't huge

How is it "getting stung/ripped off" when the Ts&Cs are written clearly?

I went to Sardinia this year with the family and managed to avoid getting ripped off.

It's their business model and it works. Although some people seem to think flying to Europe for £5 is not the norm.

T&C's are clear but the cost for a debit card transaction will be under 50p so to pay £16 for two people on return flights is being stung IMHO,

..but they do tell you this before you click accept.

You have a choice, and you probably chose Lie and scare as they were still the cheapest even after the charges.

Excatly you have to look at the whole cost to do a fair and resonable comparison not just the first step of booking.

I fly Ryanair around 10 times a year and find them excellent, their pricing, while cunning, is clear and if worked correctly you can fly for peanuts.

I even went to the lengths of getting a halifax easycash account (one of the few that offer a visa electron) just to avoid ryanairs card handing fees.

Cunning, lol. I like that and 100% agree. Very cunning to put the prices up from £10 to £46 just before the deadline, to only then reduce then to £1 after the deadline, lol.

They do the bare minimum in every area of customer service. Pay your money take your choice but if anything goes **** up good luck!
