Default Sony TVs Confused

My local Sainsburys have a KDL40L 4000 in stock for £599.

What the hell is the L model?

I can find info on U, V, W etc, but not L?

I'm guessing I should stay well clear...I fancy a 37" anyway, but it might be a bargain, I just don't know.

Looks like same panel but less connections and not as many sound options. Base also doesn't swivel.
So budget version but looks decent.

I'm sure an expert will be along shortly....

They are all Sony
They are all a Bravia
They are all LCD
Some LCD models are poor (in terms of picture quality)
Some are pretty good (for LCD)

Ummmm. That's as much as I can help with, think it would be better to buy a plasma? (or maybe not) LOL

24fps frame rate would be beneficial for HD films (as long as the Blueray/HD-DVD player outputs at 24fps, as some don't ). As should help to avoid the jerky/unnatural picture movement that is sometimes noticed on HDTV.
