Default Anyone spray painted stainless steel ?

Have a motorbike end can,stainless has gone dull/beyond polishing unless done professionally,so i was thinking of painting it black to match the bike.

anyone any products for this recommended ?

normal heat resistant paint etc ?

i think the important bit will be keying it up to give the paint something to stick to, scotch it off with some vim / ajax etc then try paint it, as you say will have to be high temp paint

can you use etch primer ? that bites to most metals.

You would use acid etch primer normally, but I dont know how this would cope with the heat of a silencer.

Have it re-chromed or anodised.

we spray stainless at work.

its brushed SS so not the mirror shiney stuff you see in other applications.

its primed then sprayed, (not sure of the exact process, as its in another dept)

cheers for some of the input

Its not mirror finish,its gone like alloy lookin so i`ll have a go and see what happens !

seems alot of people dont experiment anymore,just by new stuff,not me,i had to cut my HKS Backbox open to remove the baffle that had rotted due to water being held by the wadding etc, everyone said it wouldnt work, but it did in the end ha ha wasnt gonna pay another £350 for the backbox

some call me tight ha ha,maybe ! or stupid

well, i managed it

here it is.......




i started off with the barbecue paint, copable upto 600cthen used an engine lacquer, again,copable upto 600c
