Do a sponsored "somethingorother" for your local Childrens Hospice, anything.

Then go and present your cheque in person.

Take your guided tour.

And come out with a whole new outlook to life.

Zoe's Place did it for me, spot one child who isnt smiling and happy, they are all happy...and all not long for this world.

Puts things right into perspective.

I had a poor day at work just crowning off a poor week but I managed a good run when I got home which cheered me up.

Tomorrow is a new day mate, it can't rain all the time!

In these circs I'd recomend watching Dennis Leary's rather superb live show. On one of his stand up shows he talked about this.
He said he'd been speaking to a bloke who'd said "I'm so sad......waaaahhh......my life didn't turn out how I wanted", Leary replied with something along the loines of "So what, I wanted to be a pro-sportsman".
He then went on to say life is basically the small good bits that add up over time. Something like a tasty buscuit, a cold beer etc, etc.

The bit about the smoking family of cow's the funniest bit but what he said stayed with me.
Life's generally s**te but if you take all the s**te too much then it'll mess you up. I always try and find either the positive side or the funny bit of it.
My job's pretty miserable at times but I try and make the most of things and end up enjoying it.

I've just had this thought:

The good parts in life are the rewards for the bad parts experience
Learn from your experience, enjoy your rewards.

Hmmmm.... I could go somewhere with this one. I may need to think about it further. First time for some while I've felt like writing something.

JM - I love what your little lad wrote. Kudos to you and him both.

i listen to dennis leary on my psp theres a radio comedy channel.

i reckon the bloke at works known hes had it for ages, hes had fourteen weeks off this year and i wont seehim to march next year if he lives,
the thing upsetting me was that i have never lost anyone close my mum and dad are 75 and in great shape j4cko will tell you that, my nan was 97 when she died. so i have no experience of loosing someone, and im the sort of bloke that gets emotional at school pantos never mind mates dying.
its just a bloody shame, im really learning now that my two beautiful children are the most precious things in the world to me,
im going to give my self a few moths at work and my new boss has got a plan to get rid of the **** cuustomers, so its a few months of holding our tongues and firefighting.

dont get me wrong we are not all cut out to be company directors, i just want to go to work have no mither and come home,.

Don't get cross with your kids. Slap them if they step out of line, but be man enough to tell the difference between a **** week at work and kids 'playing up' You are stressed by how you will cope with someone close dying, and you are taking it out on the kids because they are the only people who are forced to listen to you.

(I usually tell mine that if they argue unnecessarily, they will cause me stress and I will die sooner........ maybe in 5 minutes or maybe not. Now they only argue when it is necessary )

I just give my kids the "look". They stop then. Regardless of how cr@p my work is (any despite other posts, I do get bad days!!), I try REALLY hard to never to take it out on the family.
Most of the time it works, sometimes, not. However, the reaction is that I'm very quiet, and a total recluse (more than usual).

I then eventually realise (until the next time) that there are far greater things in this world than work. Family is MUCH more important!
