i am getting some chickens (for the eggs)in the spring and fancied the idea of getting a turkey and eating it at xmas. the only thing is, who do i get to kill it for me?
don't say its easy to kill a turkey yourself because i want it done painlessly and properly, would i take it to the vets?
its just an idea at this stage, i don't know if its practical growing a turkey yourself
10 quid says she gets attached to it and won't kill it at Christmas
i am hoping that doesnt happen but i have an 8 year old daughter so...... if it pecks her and chases her round the garden then it will be a different story
i dont even know if they make a lot of noise apart from the gobbling noises
Depends on the vet. I would assume you would need to use a vet that treats livestock/farm animals and even then no guarantee they would ring it's neck to kill it as opposed to putting it to sleep the convention way.

my boyfriend would do it but i wouldnt let him in case it went wrong, i would never be able to look at him or a turkey again
Yeah, CO2/CO can be used as far as I know, but you'd need the right set-up, they use that method alot at the EFRA VLA on small animals.
Might as well have it's neck snapped, it's perfectly humane if done correctly.

its a shame that they dont have featherless types, then you could just put it in the oven and till its roasted without having to kill it first. bit like lobsters
