Thing is, if the race is that close, then the American people - as a whole - have already spoken.
They don't really give a toss either!
Seriously: if it were, say, a 66/33 split, then we could say that they have a fairly strong preference one way or the other. But they don't.

I think that it matter massively. George W. Bush is an imbecile and we live in a very different world now, as a result of this buffoon.

I know it's a bit of a pain, but unfortunately, due to the US influence on everything globally, it is important. Personally I hope Obama gets in. I'm hoping that if he does, he'll be a bit more focused on domestic issues, and won't feel the need to get involved in global affairs quite so much.
If he does, then I bet the Secret Service will be really paranoid. I think there will be a few people that won't like having a black guy in charge.

He's not black though is he? He's mixed race. If he were truly black the Democrat vote for President would be for Hillary Clinton as he would have failed in the Primaries. He's the kind of black guy white people don't mind too much i.e. a white guy with a good tan.
Will he be another JFK?
Given the choice available I'd probably vote for him, but not if I had to stand in line for 6 hours to do it.

Does the mercan press go mental over the UK election? Does it ****. So why do we get saturation coverage of theirs? And not just for a couple of weeks, it goes on for years.
Very pleased to get rid of the god squad loony, election rigging buffoon who is bush but couldn't really give a toss who succeeds him.

jackos mate, it pains me to say this as I like you and your Scoobynet persona so much, but.
It's pretty ignorant of you, or anyone in the UK for that matter to not recognise the importance of this election and the impact that it's outcome will have on us here in the UK and the rest of the world. If only out of sympathy and support for our troops that are currently fighting Bush and Cheney's war in Iraq we should be paying attention. (Disclaimer, I'm not usually one to call for "support our troops", but they really are getting the sh!tty end of a very long stick at the moment and shouln't be there.)
To those that say the American's pay no attention to our politics, whether they do or not, it shouldn't sway you away from being interested, or even anxious over who wins this election.
Yes, America is insular and ignorant of anything foreign, but they also have a huge impact on the global economy and "global social optimism". If the US is doing well, generally the rest of the world is OK too.
Clearly, I'm pro-Obama, not only because his election would have a positive impact on my business, but because he represents optimism and for once in a politician seems to genuinely want to make the world a better place and seems like he will work towards that goal.
For anyone not wanting to stay up for the night, it seems like I might get my wish. Many of the networks are calling Obama in PA, VA, NC, FL, and OH which would suggest he is in for a landslide victory. So, without wanting to jinx him it seems like you can sleep sound knowing that a new sense of optimism will descend on the world tomorrow and take full effect in January '09.
Fingers crossed.

I'm in California at the moment and it is the only thing that anyone is talking about, slightly odd as it is an Obama state.
Still, it looks as though he will win relatively easily.

207-135 according to the BBC at the moment.
Can't quite comprehend how someone who thinks Palin is ok has the wherewithal to operate a computer. Youtube her and have a look, I'm sure you can manage that at least.
My favourite is the one where she says the 13yo girl who is raped by her father should be denied an abortion, shortly followed by 'dinosaurs walked the earth 4,000years ago'.
If McCain wins*, there's a fair chance he'll pop his clogs before his 4 years are over and we'll have someone who is actually less in touch and more conservative than that dribbling idiot running the world currently. Bear in mind that American conservatism isn't like ours. Ours is New Labour except with slightly posher accents, US version is an anti-abortion, anti-freedom, xenophobic, far right Christian with very old fashioned (read fascist) views on the world, assuming they realise that the world actually even exists on some level higher than supplying their morning coffee.
* he ain't gonna
It's extremely important that someone follows Bush who is seen to be his antithesis and I think we're going to have to settle for someone who probably has more ideals than ability, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate. Bush and Cheney took a precarious situation in the middle east and stamped on it until they had a rather furious hornets nest. The USA need to distance themselves from their previous war crimes and try and make reparations and amends for their appalling post-WW2 behaviour.
A quick Wiki will find this definition of terrorism:
Exactly what the US (and UK) are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan then. Forcing al Qaeda to be handed over by Afghans by bombing them. Removing a sovereign head of state by force, who has committed no bellicose act towards the US or any of her allies, killing probably millions of civilians in the 2 invasions. Destroying al Shifa medical plant, which led to the deaths of thousands of civilians from malnutrition and malaria. Supporting Israel in defiance of a UN charter from 50 years ago - Israel are illegally occupying a region with America's financial and political support and attacking Palestinian civilians. The list goes on forever.
While I would never, ever condone the 9/11 attacks, you can understand why they did it.
No wonder they hate us
I am becoming more and more disheartened by how difficult it is on here to actually find replies worth reading.
