medical advice
I know asking for medical advice on the internet is a bit hit and miss but here is the scenario.
My dad in his mid 70's and for nearly 2 weeks he has not been able to eat any food without bringing it back up again. He is in a state of general ill health and has dementia as well. He is usually in a care home where he has specialist care.
At the moment he is in hospital, he was admitted last friday.
He has had an xray on tuesday, yesterday he had an endoscopy and they also did a biopsy as well, and today he is booked in for a ct scan.
I have tried getting hold of the doctor to find out the results of xray, but I can never see them. I have asked the nurses why they have done a biopsy but they dont actually know the reason either or they are not saying. Me and my sister are worried sick at present as the tests they are doing/done seem to point to possibly stomach cancer.
From everything I have read a biospy from the endoscopy is only done if something is seen, anyone any input on this?
We are going to try to speak with the doctor this morning to see if we can get hold of him
Cheers

My Dad had the same thing by the sounds of it and it and had all the scans and other tests and all came back ok! Still don't know what it could of been but he's feeling much better after 3 weeks of it and losing lots of weight! My old man is 68 so he's an old bugger! lol

It is true that they will do a biopsy if they see something with the camera that they are not sure about. It does not necessarily mean the worst however so try to keep cheerful. I imagine they will tell you the results as soon as they know them.

Cheers Les, its hard being cheerful about it as daft as it seems all my family have died in december and we are coming upto that time, my mum used to say the family had some kind of curse (she died of cancer in december 6 years ago)
I suppose reading into things on the internet doesnt help either
