Glen Coe is worth a visit for jaw dropping scenery, Glen affric if you fancy a walk in some stunning scenery.
Loads and loads of places, Skye well worth a visit and I believe they have got rid of the toll charges over the bridge some years ago.
The only probl;em is that it is good old trek to all these places from where you are.......

As you will have guessed from the previous 2 posters, Scotland doesn't start until after Perth (ie. the Highlands)
The Borders will give you rolling scenery but nothing as dramatic as further north. Nice market towns and good butcher meat and loads of pished rugby playing farmers
Enjoy
PS If you are into mountain biking then head here
Forestry Commission Scotland - 7stanes - Glentress & Innerleithen (Tweed Valley)

A good start would be not to go to the borders. Although Boswells is probably better than the surrounding towns (e.g. Galashiels needs burnt to the ground, preferably complete with inhabitants) you're better off travelling the extra 40 miles to Edinburgh.

If you're into walking, do the grey mare's tail, near Moffat. Scotland: The Grey Mare's Tail, a waterfall near Moffat.
The borders is full of great walks and scenery. Edinburgh is a must, although so is Glasgow I would say. I'm between the two, but most of my time is spent in the Glasgow direction, and I prefer the city to Edinburgh as in my opinion there are better shops, and people with accents that don't annoy the hell out of you.
If you fancy doing both the cities: the M8 connects the two and makes travelling from one to the other quick and easy - traffic permitting: listen to the radio for info on that.

Around Xmas and New Year it gets bloody busy up here with the skiers and snowboarders. Glen Coe and Fort William get swamped every year. In winter Glen Coe is one the most beautiful places you will ever see, so remember your camera. Just watch out for the stags they are always about on the roadside in the night and day.
Stay clear of the back roads if there is a snowfall, as most of the them dont get gritted or cleared that often. The main roads are cleared regularly so no worries there.

The borders are full of market towns, Hawick & Selkirk are nice enough. The area's history is largely weaving and wollen mills. Rolling hills and lots of sheep.
