Antigua & Mustique
At the end of the week the wife and I go on our 'summer' holiday.
We are off to Antigua for 1st week then Mustique for second, staying at Carlisle Bay and The Cotton House, respectively.
Anyone been to either the hotels or the islands and have any info to share?
We hope to dive both locations, anyone know what the diving is like?

Haven't you heard we are in recession, you can't be going to places like that!
Never been to those two islands, but have a great time!

Haven't been to Mustique, but got married in Antigua. Very nice, but the capital is a bit dodgy!
Nelson's Dockyard at English Harbour is beautiful, well worth a visit. The anicnet ttropical rainforest is also worth a vist (what's left of it).
We also took a jeep tour of the island, and they took us up a track overlooking English Harbour which I wouldn't have walked up! Still the view from the top was worth it.
Apart from that, Antigua is a place to relax, it ain't that big.
Geezer

Antigua is mint mate, but do agree that the capital is one proper down town place, quite scary!! You can hire a driver for the day, and he will take you all around the island - costs **** all too!! We stayed at st James club, not sure if that's near your hotel mate!!

The Cotton House is nice so you should enjoy that. Its a tiny island but you can easily hire a golf buggy to get about although there's not that much to see apart from some great houses with interesting coloured roof tiles.
The quieter beaches are on the Atlantic side so head there as it should be more peaceful with a few yotties about but few tourists, although you will get invaded around lunchtime when a cat lands a load of Americans who go up to the Firefly for lunch - good entertainment as invariably the crew are pissed (judging by their boat handling skills) and leave people behind once they've cocked up the headcount.
Head over to Bequia to visit the turtle farm if you're desperate for human contact otherwise have a look at the airstrip as sometimes locals use it for touch and gos, which is what I did with some interesting results. Enjoy.
Just seen your request for information re. diving. I'm not a diver but basing my thoughts on sailing I'd say the northern end past Jagger's place may be alright or in the bay next to Basil's Bar, although there are a few moorings there. I've only snorkelled in that area so it is shallow but plenty of interesting stuff to look at - again probably the Atlantic side would be better but not sure about currents etc which can be strong enough to affect navigation on boats so may be the same underwater?
