If the Tories want to be the next Govt, I'd suggest Dave gets rid asap.

Tory sleaze rears it's ugly head. Who would have believed it?

I think they'll fight it to the bitter end - It would be hugely damaging to lose Osbourne to a sleaze issue.

THey may be forced to let him go though, espeically if this witness to the conversation comes out and verifys Rothchilds story.

Its always referred to as sleaze but sleaze to me is like an MP caught with his pants down.

These stories are a bit boring but everyone goes out of their way in the press to make it really exciting.

Maybe its just me

On the boat...

Mandleson. European Trade Commissioner. Europe awards owner of superyacht tax breaks to the value of £50m/year...

Osborne. Shadow cabinet member. Possibly did/didn't solicit a donation to Tory party coffers.

tbh I'm a tad more concerned about Mandleson's participation...

This is exactly what kicked all theis off in the first place. The Times were having a pop at Mandleson on a daily basis, and then Rothschild decided to shut them up by telling exactly what went on.

Worked a treat too

I love the way people try and counter one MP's misdemeanours by posting those of another in an opposing party. Does that make it OK then? No, thought not!

Newsflash - nearly all politicians are self serving, greedy individuals who are only interested in lining their own pockets.

Want to decide who to vote for? Choose your favourite colour out of red and blue, you may as well as that is the biggest difference between our main parties right now!!!

He made a basic error in trying to drop Mandleson in the cacky over what he was alleged to have said about Flash. That sort of action can so easily lead to even worse trouble as it has in this case.

I was surprised however that his supposed mate from University was so quick to do the same thing to him over the alleged question of an illegal donation. Shows politicians can't trust anyone let alone each other.

If he was really having such a conversation with the Russian then he should be kicked into touch straightaway. no one would dream of trusting him any further than they would the other bloke mentioned.

Exclamation

Both politicians as bad as each other, morally speaking. The difference is Osborne made the naive mistake of lifting the veil over his moneyed chums social life to the press and that's not the done thing in that level of society... Rothschild won't forgive him for that.Rothschild was about to host a large fundraising dinner for the Tories which has now been pulled too.

He should have known better as the son of a Baronet and member of various oxbridge societies only open to the superrich.

Mandy must be loving it (not that I'm a supporter of his) but he's a consummate politician/snake who has just returned only to watch one of the few respected members of the Shadow Cabinet make such a schoolboy error.

Lord Mandelson, now the UK's Business Secretary, has been accused of giving multimillion-pound trade concessions to a Russian aluminium billionaire who entertained him on his superyacht. A little more serious than Ossie asking for a 50 k party donation.

Won't be long before he's out for the 3rd time.

Let's hope you are right. I can't understand how 'good'un' brown could bring back a man wreaking of so much corruption. Brown is demonstrating he is clearly a man of poor judgment, completely out of touch with voters and ultimately the wrong man to lead the country.

So it look like Cameron chickened out. I thought he would have had the ***** to get shot of Osborne as it seems clear that he wanted to wangle it so he could get some dosh out of that Russian thug, sorry honest business person.

UKIP's the answer

Agreed (although it was Ossie refusing a £50k silencer)

This stinks of mandelson's negative spin tactics and the whole reason why a desperate Brown has brought him in.

Does this mean that any policeman that has been offered a bribe is liable to be instantly dismissed?

Well Mandelson seems to be doing a pretty good job of the spin so far then. At the end of the day, Osbourne chose to start spinning and telling tales about Mandelson in Corfu and then when it gets turned round on him he is shown to be a political lightweight and rather like his character in the poor new series of Spitting Image.

Hasn't taken long for Mandy to go back to his old ways proving once and for all that a leopard can't change it's spots:

BBC NEWS | Politics | Mandelson met with tycoon in 2004

Looks like a naivie George Osbourne may have been used to cover Mandy's tracks.
