Originally I was going to say buyer collects but they seem to get absolutely no bids on ebay. Makes sense I suppose! cheers for the advice.

Lots of bubble wrap/cardboard. Maybe get a cardboard bike box from Halfords or a bike shop. They only chuck'em otherwise. Oh and little plastic spacers to go between the drop outs, to stop them getting squished!
These people have never let me down yet...

Free! and postage with that courier should be £10-15.

As mentioned, pop to a local halfords or bike shop and ask if they have any spare boxes that bikes are delivered in. Remove wheels and wrap in bubble wrap, turn the handle bars so they are parallel to the frame, remove pedals, so they do not stick out and pierce the box and if you want, remove the rear mech at the hanger in case it gets a knock.
Wrap the frame with foam pipe insulation stuff and loads of bubble wrap in the box and then you should not be far off.

Nathan, ask local Halfords for their thrown away ones, or raid their skips for them LOL I have posted big items (not as big as a mountain bike, though) by sticking cardboard boxes together with packaging tape. I asked the supermarkets to give me some large thrown away cardboard containers that I further developed into a masterpiece package Hope you come up with something like that. DO NOT PAY FOR A PACKAGING BOX. Why lose money, when you can get away with free cardboard? It's promoting recycling, anyway. I actually recently sold some wheels (with tyres) for my son. I put it in the advert that buyers organises collection and packaging, nothing to do with me. And, they did. Their courier came, picked them, packaged them, and took them away.

There are ways around selling big goods on Ebay. Good luck sorting it, man.

take the pedals off
unscrew the rear deraileur and tape to the frame
wheels off
undo stem head and slip bars out- means forks will turn flat too.
and go mad with the bubble wrap.

They never fit easily through the slot into the post box though.
