Default Positive stories and things you can say about the police.

OK, in light of all the 'police are rubbish' threads there have been recently, I thought I'd see what sort of nice encounters people have had, instead, where the help has been invaluable or they've gone out of their way.

Personally, 20 years ago I was run over by a hit and run driver in a Volvo (no it wasn't a copper ), at around 60-80mph. I was a bit of a mess afterwards but the police kept in touch, did all they could to try and find the guy/gal (never did find them though) and also gave me an awesome Transformer for Christmas (although it was an autobot )

The great thing was how they responded so well when they, very luckily for me, came round the bend a min or so after the incident. They looked after me and got as much info as they could out of my brother and dad before shock really settled in, as they had both watched me being squidged. It was during the ambulance strikes so they called in a priority and got me scooped up quickly, as well as keeping my hysterical mum calm
Cheers guys, wherever you are

I can positively say that not ALL traffic cops are vindictive little Hitlers who failed at primary school, failed at secondary school, failed at college, failed at university, failed in life.

They're not ALL bad.

Just 99.99999999999999999999999% of them.

It has gotta be the worst job in the world next to Insurance Salesman, Estate Agent, Funeral director or Tax Inspector - I'll bet the invites out to dinner are few and far between...

To be honest, I'm kinda expecting that most of the positive stories will be from some time ago, as the personal touch appears to have gone out of use somewhat today. It's a shame and rather telling of how things are, that no one can find anything good to say

pmsl, I did think YMCA when I saw that but didn't want to spend ages sifting through picstures of 'hot' male cops

You want something a little less

And a little more

Although that ain't a copper, I've seen enough on t'internet via the search I did to make my eyes bleed

I'd prefer more of

Wow, way to steer my own thread off course

Well just to get it back on track.

my mates mum was murdered when we were kids, we must have been nine or ten, he was playing at my house and went home to fid house full of coppers, and blood everyehere.

looking back, i suppose you would say he was bit neglected, he was always at his grandads house, and his mum seemed to have a lot of boyfriends round, if you catch my drift, my mum and dad would always msake sure he had some tea in him before he went home.

anyway, this cid copper based at platt lane, used to get me and him tickets tounited every now and then, and always bought him easter eggs and preswents, but mainly he used to take us to united perhaps once a month. and he made usre paul grew up ok,

tbh, on my old police scanner i looked up the codes on the internet, and some of the things they had to go to its no surprise they taint everyone the same.

stopping people who had marks for CA (child abuse), and going to murders and bad crashes and fights etc.

About the best story for me personally was a few years back. I'd had a fight with the other half, and like any emotional woman, was having a little cry to myself on my way home. Was just a stupid fight after a few drinks, I must admit, but was upset non the less. Anyhow, as I was making my way home a police car pulled up alongside me and the female officer asked if I was ok, and if I wanted a lift home (was quite late).

I thought it was quite nice of them to bother, and I honestly don't think they were trying to bang me up or anything, I wasn't causing any hassle just alone and upset. I admit it's not an amazing story, but a positive experience.

Nah, that's just what I was talking about, it doesn't have to be a huge deal, sometimes the little things really count. We pick up on every single little negative thing, why not the other way round.
Cheers Lisa

I had a good experience recently in Nott'm
Flew in to Nott'm airport, bus to town and asked 2 pc's (one tasty young lady) if they knew a particular dealers location (car!) , radio'd in for me, 2 mins later got the address, they were too busy to give me a lift and I should have got her number
shame the taxi feller who spoke little english took me somewhere fookin else

They are not all bad

A few weeks ago when i was on lates when we were on patrol i saw a lone female sat on a doorstep to a block of flats, so we stopped, i got out went to speak to her to see if she was OK? When her boyfriend arrived who had been parking the car, he was glad to see that we had stopped to make sure everything was OK.

Later that same night we were flagged down by another female who had got herself locked out of her house, she was grateful of the assitance in getting in from us.

Young Child got trapped in a car (with keys) after being picked up from nursery, so we helped open the car, and get the child reunited with its family member who wont be letting the child open the car again in a hurry

So it is not all doom and gloom

I had prowlers, living in the sticks not good, especially when the other half is away. They were here within 5 mins. I have no complaints. They were superb
