Bought two new watches this month - both broken with manufacturing faults already, mate got new 24" iMac - broken hard drive, parents got new DVD recorder - broken already.
All top/v expensive makes, absolute crap, crap, crap.

Ahh this is my sort of thread. Nothing I ever buy these days lasts more than 10 minutes. I've learnt to never throw away the receipt and packaging (if possible).
My in-laws have lived in the same house for 30-odd years and never once had the gas boiler serviced (and it had already been in the house long before they moved in). In all that time it only needed one button changing which my father-in-law managed himself.
In today's nanny state we're supposed to get them checked every year, but they haven't been killed by CO poisoning yet (now that's a tempting idea ). Mine's just 6 years old and broken down 3 times already.
It's all cr@p.

I had an Accurist that my missus bought me, which cost her just about £30, which lasted nearly 17 years. It was replaced last December with a Casio Waveceptor at around £110, which I felt was as expensive as I'd ever want to go. If it lasts as long as the Accurist I'll be happy. I don't mind paying for quality, but I think there's a law of diminishing returns. Does a £1500 watch tell the time any better than a £100 one? Mind you Guerns make Scotsmen look profligate, so maybe I'm just tight.
Maybe that's why I'm finding it hard to justify paying for a new subscription to SN, with the technical issues and general lack of apparent maintenance from the owner/admin team I feel it isn't good value. It depends how much I miss the search facilities really.

I have had a Linn Sondek since 1981 and still performs faultlessly.
Also a Sugden integrated amp from 1979 until 1998 - no probelms.
Replaced with MAS amps - nothing but problems.
WRX 1999 - still never misses a beat
Longine watch - Broke within 12 months . Crap electronic movement inside $1000 watch !
Samsung mobile - rubbish . Constant problems with keys
Sony CD 101 player - The first machine built circa 1983-84 - still works !
Anything built in China is poor quality and will not last
Casio camera - major focusing error from day one. Chinese Rubbish
Sony projector - projector ok but bulbs last <600 hours supposed to last 3000 hours !
