Only By The Night
Today is the first chance I have had to sit and properly listen to this album and I am thinking it is the best KoL work to date.
Who's with me?

Think although it's good it's not great. First 4 tracks are the best. Crawl will be class live and Closer has a haunting quality to it. Think it tales off after that. I prefer Because of the times if you're comparing the last 2 albums.

They did Crawl at the Maida Vale live session, sounded great with that dirty, distored guitar sound. I ripped the whole live set, edited & split it if anyone wants a copy?

I've got the Maida Vale session and listened to it before I'd heard Only by the Night. Couldn't wait to hear the album and I haven't been disappointed.

I've always liked Kings of Leon, but this new album has just blown me away. There is nothing like them out there.
If they were girls I would be showering them with PeteLove©.

We've banned the Oasis album from work as we all think they're past it
I'll have to take the KoL album in tomorrow and see what the boys think of it. We've got a bit bored of our Streets revival - by revival I mean playing Dry Your Eyes to the KP who was dumped by his (imaginary) girlfriend.
The little bastid has hidden my Elbow album as revenge

The thing is I would love it if they produced anything close to DM but they wont and we all know it. poverty and drugs breed creativity. I remember going to Knebworth to see them.... happy times.

Oasis were a band of thier time, and undoubtably fantastic in thier heyday, but as soon as they started to beleive thier own hype I think thats when I lost interest. Noel Gallagher is without question the most conceited, big headed tosser in music, he would take credit for the sun rising is he thought he could get away with it.
My favourite quote was when he personally took credit for eveyone in camden having a good summer in '96. ****.
Course they weren't even the best bank of the "Britpop" era. That was Pulp.

Ahhh, so I take it you liked my recommendation then
I love that album. Forth by the Verve is good too.
I don't care what you say about Oasis. They were one of my favourite bands in the 90's and still are. As are OCS.

I told you so the other night. Drunk again? I especially like One Day Like This .
In that case don't visit me at work while we have the OST to Lock Stock playing. We murder Hundred Mile High City with our slightly out of sync attempted get-the-words-wrong-sing-a-long

Another recommendation is Neon Neon - Silver Style. Neon Neon is led by Gruff Rhys of the super furry animals. The album itself is actually inspired by John DeLorean. It's brilliant.

Quite funny to see so many scathing reviews on here of an album that is a bit of a grower and yup....I'm no great Oasis fan either, but the album is almost up there with their first 2 efforts. Seems most people struggle to get over their dislike of Liam IMHO.
Only by the Night is classic, Kings of Leon just keep getting better and better by the album
Enjoying TV on the Radio, Dear Science at the moment (much to my own surprise!!!)
