Default I've bitten the bullet, offer accepted on a house.

Placed an offer (quite a cheeky one too ) and it has been accepted, three bedroom house just scraped under the stamp duty threshold.

Hope they don't drop too much more now.

They almost certainly will - But what does it matter to you now anyway, unless you plan to remortgage or sell in the next couple of years

But surely if he waited 6 months he might get if for 10k less which would bring his mortgage payments down.

Cheers, hope this one goes through, lost out on a great house last week, due to the woman deciding her ex husband should pay for her to stay in a 4 bedroom house.

Congratulations, bricks and mortar, wise move.

Any one know who said
"Buy land, they're not making it any more"

See if you get it right, I'll check again later for the correct answer.

Just done the same. House was up for 120k fixed price. We bid 102,500 and it has been accepted so almost 18k saving. since we'll be there for a few years it shouldn't be an issue and the mortgage is nice and affordable.

Just need to let the flat out now if anyone knows a decent Scottish letting agent.

Falkirk and staying in area. Expecting a wee one just just moving from flat to a house as we need the room. No point trying to sell the flat at the momnet, we can't wait years for someone to get approved for the mortgage so looking to rent it out for now.

Well done fingers crossed for you m8, as said before once you are in there what happens to the price is only reflective in what your plans at that time are.

WAY too early to jump in now ...... go to UK house prices, home and property values - FREE from Zoopla! to see what they estimate the price to be - it's pretty much spot-on

Good call IMO. There may be a bit of a negative equity, but as long as you've not outstretched yourself, then it will always come good.

Enjoy your new gaff.

Few anomolies, we sold up last year and managed to squeeze what I thought was an overly inflated price just over the magic £250k (sold at £265). All the local properties are now around 220k but our old one is showing at £260k. Again £260 would have been outstanding a year ago.
