Building regs parking ?
Does anyone know the latest building regulations in regards to parking for a 4 bedroom house ?
Should there be off road parking (ie driveway) sufficient for 2 cars (not including garage ? Or
can this include the garage (single) to make it parking for two cars (one in garage one on driveway) ?
Thanks
Richard

As far as I'm aware there's no building regulation that covers parking requirements.
Planning requirements are what usually determine this, decided by planning officers who live in villages with long drives leading up to double garages whom then decide that people buying these new houses are happy to only have one parking space and the other car(s) in the household have to park on the road (creating 'natural' traffic calming). Either that or you get stuck round the back in a dimly lit parking court and face a 5 minute hike to your front door.
A garage is usually classed as a parking space, so if you've got a garage and space to park a car in front of it that's what is deemed adequate for 2 cars.

as neandertahal says, bldg regs don't cover parking
parking is a planning issue. if you;re altering what you have, don't worry about it - it doesn't matter. if you're talking about new build, it's likely 1 parking space will suffice, but your local planning authority will be able to advise informally

Mine's got a drive to a minute single garage....
But with a little spade work we can now get two on the drive, however if the **** next door parks his G*lf in the shared area I can't get out !
