Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist:
These "courts" are to settle disputes (usually family related) between muslims who subscribe to Shaira law. It's more like arbitration really.
This DOES NOT mean Muslims are exempt from British criminal or civil law!

Also, Jewish courts that do the same thing have been in this country for centuries.
Remember all those threads we had complaining how that would destroy the British way of life?
Oh, wait, that's right, there weren't any.

If it involves two individuals who are happy about it and is a matter of civil law then who cares. It is basically a private matter.
As someone has said, Jewish religious courts have been doing this for ages.
You might even argue that to not allow them would be to undermine British tradition.
I think a far more contentious matter is the state support of faith schools which people try to get into because they think they are better than the local ones. (Tony Blair ring any bells)
They even try to get free transport from miles away paid for by us mugs.
Why does anyone need to go to a faith school?
Can't the parents do that?
