THE FUTURE'S BRIGHT... THE FUTURE'S ORANGE..

So, for those of you who don't know, I've been drumming in a Derby based band called Pressure for the last 3yrs or so - a very professional band with absolutely amazing musicians. There you will find a whole host of info, images, updates, MP3s etc. etc. Alternatively come and see us live where you'll be blown away by the songs, the musicianship, the energy, and the performances - they're all out of this world and you're guaranteed a good time too. I know that all sounds biased as I'm the one writing this, but ask anyone who's been to see us perform live and they'll tell you. You can also watch 2 of our music videos - Start Again and Abducted Today - which are featured on my own personal profile under my videos section - if nothing else as least be sure to check out the out-takes video cos it's hilarious - although not for the easily offended, but you won't be disappointed!

Anyways, enough of my mumbojumbo as it's all systems go with the band at the moment as Pressure will be entering this year's prestigious Orange Unsigned competition - remember that music show that was on Channel 4's T4 Sunday hangover slot last year (after Hollyoaks) with Radio 1's Jo Whiley, Blur's very own Alex James, and that music industry bloke that nobody knows (Simon Gavin), well that's the competition.

So why am I telling you all this and what's the big deal? Well actually it's a record deal and a fairly big one at that – with Universal Music, home to Razorlight, Amy Winehouse and the Kiaser Chiefs to name but a few. In addition to that the competition winners also get a single released immediately following the final show and a huge promotional campaign.

Once the entry deadline closes on 31 August, there will be a two-week online voting period running from 1st September until 14th September for all acts. Those 25 acts with the most online votes will be invited to the first stage of auditions where they’ll play in front of the panel of judges (Radio 1's Jo Whiley, Blur's very own Alex James, and that music industry bloke that nobody knows, Simon Gavin). This is where I need to start asking the favours...



Obviously the top prize is way out of sight or reach for anyone at this present time but Pressure's immediate aim is to be amongst those top 25 bands voted onto the show. Sounds pretty good to me , Did you play at Oakstock this year for realt ime music ?

Thanks Spireite! Unfortunately half the band was at the Reading festival this year - would be nice to play at Oakstock - Real Time music at the top of Sheffield Road was where I learned to play the drums - think Andy was the tutor if I remember correctly.
