Avertising standards authority.......rubbish!
I've contacted these idiots twice in the last year or so, both times they've upheld that the advert was OK.
The latest one was a Vodaphone advert promising "Unlimited Facebook", but it actually had a limit on it
Apparently, that's OK
I knew standards had slipped once the government gave TV companies etc the green light to pack 5 lots of ads into a 1 hour programme, but surely, that's just lying? And it's OK in an advert?

I wrote to them recently because an advert by the Carbon Footprint brigade stated that human contribution to a "Carbon Footprint" impacts on Climate Change... As this is not proven, cannot be proven and will never be proven, I wrote to say that the advert needs removing until such time as it is reworded to say something like "Humans have nothing to do with climate change, but switch off your appliances when you're not using them because it will save you money" etc...
They wrote back stating that as a government funded study demonstrated a link between humans and climate change that the advert was OK
Pure comedy...
That said my bro wrote to them about some advert with a sad dog and a car in recently and along with several hundred others managed to get it taken off the air if I remember correctly so it can work

I complained about a ford focus ad last year where they said one of the free extras was "sporty front fog lights" and I really had to point out that fog lights are a safety device and in no way sporty and in fact, motorsport is frequently cancelled due to fog.
BS reply was received.

I complained to the advertising commission as when I first saw an advert for the film 'The Never Ending Story' I thought just that.......... felt robbed when it ended 90 minutes later..... blatant false advertising
