how much have you got to spend steve?
sony vpl es2 is 2500 ansi and the one I had, 4 metres isnt an issue and the quality is outstanding, if your fixed on 3500 ansi though the canon REALis x600 has some good reviews, but expect to pay about £2000. you can pick a sony up for about £400.

Price doesnt really matter too much James
Customer will be paying
the one they have (Sanyo) was about 1100 quid, but it needs to project and fill a 4 metre screen from 10 feet

I guess you need to look at the low end profesional kit with a range of lenses. the normal wide is a 1.2:1 although Christie and barco do a 0.8:1 which would fit your bill.
The lenses are the best part of 1500.00 trade + projector. over this short throw distance there may be some edge demformation
Assuming home cinema and front projection then for a 3.5m screen 3.5k lumens would be the adequate.

Thanks Paul
Its rear projection
the current projector is a Sanyo PLC-XU105 which is a very nice projector and its 4500 ANSI Lumens
We installed it last week along with the screen (a Da-lite Cosmopolitan Electoral Tensioned 4 Metre Screen) however they have decided they all love it to bits but want the screen moving 8 feet closer towards the projector

I am pretty sure Sanyo do not do a .8 lens, have you thought about mounting the projector at 90 degrees and using a mirror to 'bounce' the image - cut down on the distance, done this a few times on events and a decent mirror set up will be less than a .8 lens.

Ouch, mirror is not an option then
i think you wil be stuffed on distance avaliable v.s. screen size.
Good luck, be intersted in the final solution.

They have give us a choice of two projectors
PLC-XT21L and a PLC-XT35L
both with additonal Lens for the short throw
We quoted this job as 4 days, customer has sad no you can do it in 3 days, so after some umming and erring, we got it down to 3, now he has said you can do it in 2 days
It isnt just the screen move, its all the amp and speaker cables etc too
