I really like the new(ish) search on autotrader but why do people not put the details in their ads so you can use the filters properly?

Fuel type:
Petrol
Diesel

Transmition:
Manual
Automatic
Semi-automatic
Unlisted

Doors:

Unlisted

FFS, you must know what fuel it takes, how the gears change and HOW MANY EFFING DOORS there are!!!

Do they not want people to find their adverts...?

Rant over.

To appeal to a wider audience.
Know what you mean. Really annoying wasting time sorting the wheat from the chaffe.

It doesn't work on the larger audience thing, if I'm looking for a black, 3 door with a petrol engine between 2 and 3L in size with a semi automatic gearbox, I'm not going to browse the Unlisteds on all the categories just to see if one slipped through.

Surely it would be better to be accurate..?

Spoon - don't think there would be a market for high milers

To be fair, there could be a 1 door electric car, with no gears, thats why those options are there. Probably not though.
I say tough, if the people can't list items properly, I don't want to buy them.

Rant over.
Conversely, you list out everything including an exhaustive list of work that has been done to the vehicle in the last few years and you get...

'has it got a sunroof?'

yes, as per the advert...

'has it got an MOT?'

yes, as per the advert...

'is it taxed?'

yes, as per the advert...

'is it dual fuel?'

yes, as per the advert...

And so on, until you mildly enquire as to whether the caller's first language is English as which point they get scruffy on you.

Or they fail to turn up.

Or once you've sold it to the only non-tyre kicker, they call you several weeks later only to be told that its sold and then proceed to ask you 'how much you got for it?'. WTF has it got to do with you?

Or the muppet who turned up to buy a £900.00 vehicle only to inform me he's 'only got £500.00' - So??? Are you making a statement or feebly trying to negotiate? If you've only got £500.00 then why are you looking at £900.00 cars?
