Packed up last May It was frighteningly easy considering I'd been smoking for just over 20 years Have so far bought a new mountain bike with the money I've saved but could probably have bought 10 of them! When my friends that smoke come round I can't believe how bad they smell, it horrifies me to think that I used to smell like that! Yuk.

Been a non smoker since Nov - has anybody else noticed this ? When I go out drinking I am getting really ****-faced, whereas b4 I would just get pissed ? I am ending up in some right old states !!
I guess its coz I aint smoking and drinking faster to make up for it ???
anybody ?

I gave up because I was bored of smoking and stinking like an ashtray. The money side of it is a nice bonus, being able to keep me and my clothes smelling fresh ranks as one of the biggest benefits. Its a fact, smokers stink, and until you stop you don't notice it.
But in the end if people choose to carry on smoking thats there personal choice and you have to repect that too, I know I used to get fed up of non/ex-smokers having a pop at me.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed it?
I gave up smoking on the 16th December just before a nose op and I have almost put on a stone.
Whats up with that??
Anyway good luck to everyone out there giving up!!!
To treat myself at the end of the first and second week of giving up I bought myself a bottle of Moet.
Well £30 was what I was spending on Bennies a week, so it felt good.
Now I just save the cash towards my house.
Steve.

Carpet - I noticed that as well. I put it down to the fact that when you would light up before, you just have another sup now.
I quit on Sept 25th - approx 20 weeks. So did my better half. We smoked about 30 a day each, so we have saved 2 grand since we stopped. Day three is the hardest. I think that is when the nicotine devil is gasping its last. After that it gets easier every day - keep it up

Stevep - I put on 1 and a half stones over about 7 months after giving up smoking It wasn't due to eating more either, I think that perhaps my metabolism just ground to a halt. That's why I bought the mountain bike. I've been dieting for 4 weeks now and have lost nearly a stone but I've only managed 3 short trips out on my bike, Still I can blame that on the crappy weather
I really don't miss smoking at all and I feel so much better now

SC - Lost nearly a stone in 4 weeks thats good going. WELL DONE!!
I go to the gym twice a week, have a swim and a game of squash and trying to eat healthier and not drink as much beer and I don't think I have lost a pound.
Nevermind, the woman likes the gut!!!

Smoking is good for fat people (flame suit on! )
It's an appetite suppressent AND it speeds up your metabolism.
I'm always hungry at the moment - and chewing lots of gum.
still successful though. Cheers for the support guys (gals is implied, btw).

Don't chew too much gum. You'll end up talking like a muppet , those jaw muscles just grow and grow.
