If you have the drawers name, the sort code and the Draft number then you should be able to verify with the bank that the draft has been issued and to whom.

the other thing is its this chaps mum getting the draft as he wants the car today. i just dont like it
i hate drafts they take days to clear, thing is tho if i knew it was genuine ofcourse id accept the blokes money but to many scam artists make me worried these days

Can he not get cash instead of a draft? Or get ID from him (Passport and DL) hand over the keys but don't hand over the log book until the draft clears. Also ask him if you can take a picture of him. If he is a genuine buyer he won't mind, but if he is a crook he won't want you to be able to hand it over to the fuzz when the draft bounces

Two options.
Accept the draft but don't hand over the car until it has cleared
Tell them to cancel the draft and do either cash or a CHAPS transfer.
I just would not accept a bakers draft without being able to verify it.

Can you not get them to pay cash directly into your bank account? Then you could check it was there online or with a quick phone call. We did this and it worked well.

Go with him / his mum to the bank, watch the draft being drawn up then wander over to your Bank & pay it in! Or some of the other options above are good too. Whatever happens don't just take the draft & let him drive off in you car ...

How come a few years back you never got stuffed on a draft?
How come in this brilliant new age everything is so forgable and every other swine is a thief?
Hope you get another buyer
