I love my Canon Ixus V, there are others here who love their Fuji Finepix to name but 2. Both are very compact and slip into the pocket easily. I find it gets used more when it's easy to carry and just whip out. Pop into a Dixons or PC World and have a play with a few to find one you like. I believe Jessops will price match so see if you can get a good online price and buy it locally.
It's probably worth reading some reviews of any shortlisted camera and seeing if anyone's got experience with them.

Martin.

Hos,
try these from the Wales Camping Trip http://home.clara.co.uk/martinboakes/WCT3/01.jpg through to 28.jpg they all started out at 1600x1200 but have been resized since.
There's also http://home.clara.co.uk/martinboakes/trouser.rm which started as an AVI recorded on the Canon.

I am looking for a dig camera as well about 350ish of your english pounds. I decided on the ixus v but am still trying to find the best price.
So far it is www.nomatica.com who do them for £321.

Must get round to buying one soon.

How about New York Camera, based in Germany? They've got the IXUS V for €498.90, or about £310. I ordered a load of stuff from them a couple of weeks ago, and they were a pleasure to deal with.

Cool

I've been thinking about buying an Ixus V for around 2 weeks now as i need a camera which will fit in my pocket and not have to be hand-held all the time. (Ixus beats current sony cybershot S50 which is about the size of a brick).

The only thing that bothers me is the picture quality.
M.D.V , is there any way you can post a pic of anything that has been taken with your Ixus V to show the quality?
No worries if you can't. just would help. Thankyou in advance.

Hos,

modern digital cameras typically produce image files between 1MB and 2MB, so a post might take a while to download (at least for us on the POTS!).

Even my old 1.3-megapixel Fuji gave good images when printed (on photo-paper) even in a4 size - and my current Finepix 40i outputs over 4-megapixels!!

Take a peek at http://www.tab.demon.co.uk/boomer/me...Dscf0260f.html for a highly compressed example of a picture (50KB instead of 1700KB!!!!).

If you want a pocket sized camera (not SLR etc) then you will not be disappointed with the quality of the mega-pixel cameras such as Fuji or Canon.
