Default Classical music FECKIN ROCKS.....

It's Monday..... and I needed a "lift" so I've put on some classical stuff (some greatest hits) and I'm now feeling all calm.... strangely calm, almost like Hannibal Lectuer calm.....

Do any Snetters actually listen to this stuff?

Yup. Listen to Classical reguarly. Favourite at the moment is Einaudi - simplistic clean piano which can just carry you along. I have 2 CDs in the car changer at the moment and love lots of his pieces.

Classic music has many layers to it, and it really can be *listened* to. Thoroughly enjoyable stuff

Thanks for reminding me I really must dig out the Bond girls tracks I have and load them into iTunes.

For those that don't know what I'm on about I suggest google, you will find it most appealing (if your male) and yes it is classical music.

One of the best concerts I ever went to was an outdoor classical concert at Leeds Castle in Kent with the British Philharmonic Orchestra and some real live cannons for the 1812 Overture, awesome stuff

I think I love you DCI!

Vivaldi's Stabat Mater (or 'Stab yer Mother' as I call it ) by the Academy of Ancient Music. Is one of my absolute faves.....sublime! You MUST listen to it.

I just wish I knew some of the names of them. I mean I love Beethovven 7th symphony 2nd movement, but it was only recently I found out the name of it.

There are various classical pieces I really like but they are all known as "that one that goes dum dum dum da da" in my head.

We need someone we can phone and hum the tune to and they will give us the title.

Pete. The 'Top Gear' theme does NOT count as classical!

I recall going to see Rammstein (industrial metal group) and being curious about the support group when 3 guys with cellos and a drummer walked on stage to looks of incredulity from the crowd.

They're original I'll give em that. Entertaining to watch too! Still not sure about the wildly swinging hair though....just looks wrong when playing an instrument more readily associated with the classical genre!

Actually it looks wrong per se: men shouldn't have long hair; it looks gay....there I said it!!!

I have a lot of classical CD's but the one's which are played most often are the Beethoven Symphonies and Piano concertos. Pure magic.

Why? It's just an instrument.

I don't like putting things in pigeon holes / genres. I just look at it all as music, which you either like or you don't. At home I've got somewhere around 200 "classical" cds, but also have similar number of rock, metal, jazz, folk etc. Will listen to almost everything

Where "classical" is concerned, I don't like Beethoven much though. It may be because I've played so much of it in the various orchestras and the cello parts tend to be pretty boring to play (very easy). Tend to like the really old stuff (Palestrina, Allegri, Byrd etc) miss out Haydn Beethoven etc, and start again in the 20th Century

If I had to pick some faves I'd have to plump for Vaughan Williams, Miaskovsky, Stravinsky, and Richard Strauss (who never wrote a bad note in my book).
