Question Post Office: are they TRYING to commit financial suicide?

I was in yesterday, buying a stamp. There was an Asian guy with THREE SACKS of letters to post, all with first class stamps fixed.

The woan behind the counter refused to accept them as she said they needed a "Large Letter" stamp, not a first class.

She said that if he posted them as they were, "they'll refuse to deliver them and charge each and every recipient £1.70 for delivery".

Are they stupid, or just plain greedy?

Muahahahahahahahahahaha!

The other EU states ALL ignore any directives that don't benefit THEIR citizens.

Why the **** does OUR government enforce every one and then blame the EU?

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect someone to pay the 'right' price for a service

Yes, the asian man was a plonker. The post office clerk was correct for not accepting the partially paid letterages.

She should have offered him the use of her kettle so he could steam off the stamps he had used

Our government isn't blaming the EU, because it has nothing to do with them - despite what you might read form UKIP. This is an entirely home-grown idea.

Could have been worse, the old bat in the Post Office could have taken them off him without commenting, put them into the system, and then every poor sod who is being sent one of those letters will have to pay £1.70 to the postie when he delivers it or if they're not in go down the sorting office to pay and collect. This would make them a lot more money assuming everyone did pay the £1.70.

My parents sent me a large Crimbo card last year without the right stamp on it. Got the card to say it was at the sorting office for us to pay the extra on / collect. Never bothered to go and get it
