Default Good name for a dog...

Picking up a new dog on Wednesday and to be honest, we're having a bit of difficulty choosing a name - the creative juices are running a bit dry in the Gigs household.

The dog is a male Bernese Mountain Dog. Any suggestions welcome... though nothing rude or dirty - I have two kids and don't want to shout anything too offensive when the family are out for a walk! ;o)

How about Monk?

Monk is the English translation of Mönch - which is the name of one of the Mountains in the Swiss Alps (home of the breed)

When i get a dog im going down the traditional route. Theres far too many rex's, spot, rover etc.

Mine will have a name from the following (imagine shouting loud as you can in the middle of the park !!)

Mark, John, Ian, Derek, Trevor, George, David (not dave), and if its a bitch
Marge, Mel, Sharon or Donna

End of the day its up to you and what your family likes.

Good luck with pooch !

Why not just call it 'Dog'? I bet nobody else in the park will have dogs called 'Dog', hence there won't be any confusion when you have to shout its name!

We did think about calling him Chav... shouting "Oi, come here Chav!" in the middle of the park could have some amusement value, though it could also lead to getting lynched by a bunch of hoodies! ;o)

Rufus is going down well with the missus as is Monk... she's Swedish so she's vetoed Dougal, Dylan and Bungle as she's not familiar with the TV shows.

Apparently Tarzan is out too... quite liked that one myself! ;o)

Keep them coming, I'm sure we'll have a name for the fella before Wednesday!

Some friends of ours have two of these, lovely dogs, huge though.

I saw a rescue dog called "Mush" which I thought was a good name.
