I went back a few years ago. Won't be going back in a hurry. Ruined by scum, I'd go somewhere else. HTH

years ago it was a nice place full of gorgeous looking girlies etc and beach bum surfer types. I went three years later and it was truly aweful, stayed on a site called Smugglers Haven which i found out later was nicknamed Smugglers Hell.

Full of p***ed up a***holes spoiling for a fight. it really has gone that bad.

Not sure how old you are (i'm an old fart) but love St Ives - although it is quieter, Padstow is also ok but nicknamed Padstein as Rick Stein practically owns the place.

Depends what you want really.

Tis a shame as it has been spoiled somewhat. I used to go surfing a lot and apart from North Devon/Croyde Bay , Newquay was our favourite spot.
Went down on a mini holiday a few months ago and decided to visit my old haunts and it just seems dreary and dismal now. There is a lot of building work going on which dosent help I suppose.

As for going out, well a start would be Bar Central ( very nice indeed) and then just follow the crowd

It is a tip .... crawling with chavs and scum .... where men are men, sadly so are the women!!

Really, it has gone the way of Tenby ... once great, now ruined by scum.

DON'T DO IT!!!

I used to live there but not any more thankfully. Sailors nightclub is a proper fannyfest and is where the sluttiest girls can be found then there is berties nightclub if you like getting bottled by chavs and also tall trees, which is half nightclub, half strip club now.
The walkabout pub is probably the best place to start your night off,as the price of drinks in ths main clubs are a ferkin rip off.

No.1 Chav town in UK !!,
Great place if you want to get s**t faced, have a punch up, and **** a 'girl' that you wouldn't normally look twice at !!!

Good surf though, depends what you are going for..

Just wanted to get away for a few days, had heard it was nice but now im not so sure. Mind you blackpool is a bit of a hole and i had a great weekend last time i was there.

Going to have a surfing lesson, never tried it before so it should be a laugh if anything.

No idea how old you are Dan, but I have a blast everytime I go there.
If I'm ever along the cornish coast I always pop across.
I've had some real good times there and the return visits remind me of them.
It is'nt what it was though, too commercialised now.

With regards to the posts above, fighting and getting bottled.
C'mon guys, this happens in most towns.
The reason places like Newquay see more of this is because people swarm there

If you are down for a few days you should enjoy it Hendra campsite isn't too bad a place to stay And if you get bored of drinking, try st eval kart track. it has 70mph karts and a 1200m track.

Newquay isn't that bad . i have had a great time when ever i go there (now i live in plymouth its getting more frequent) if your going in a single sex group most campsites wont take you there are a few . sunnyside campsite will take single sex groups but its an 18-30s camp site and it was a bit run down but they have a bus to newquay and a club on site (so to speak) .

A mate of mine who lives in Cornwall calls Newquay, "the blackpool of cornwall"

Is that a good or a bad thing I dont know but I thought it was okay but wouldnt want to spend a holiday there.

In 1974 I stayed at Hendra campsite with the lads ..... even way back then they had patrols on the youngsters fields - WITH German Shepherd Dogs!! The site had a disco and drink .... that was good enough for us!!

But, was there last year in the town and it's scum as far as the eyes can see ... looked like all the council estates in the country had converged on that one square mile - awful, who gave them the money to leave the ghettos?

Im off to Newquay tonight. Berties has gone downhill and stinks a bit now, lol. Although, its usually cleaned up a bit for the season. We drove through the town the other night and its nowhere near as bad as people have made out.

No fights, no chavs, no-one getting bottled, lol.

There isnt many towns you could drive through and not get your car smashed. Newquay is one place you can

I like it, i like it alot!

Have fun

I would like to iterate that 90% of the scum are from up Country.Agreed It was a nice place as a teenager to go,but living there was soul destroying having to deal with pissed up stag do's (always dressed in football shirts with their names on them) and hen parties (always dressed in pink cowgirl outfits)

If you want a decent weekend OP, I would suggest a paintball session and a go kart trip to st eval between your drink sessions

And from my time living in newquay, I found the lot of the violence cuased by the visiting scousers. I once witnessed 4 scousers beat the **** out of some poor barsteward eating his burger outside of burgerking
