Seems a good time to rejoin.

The death of the gym membership - MSN Life & Style UK

I cancelled my Esporta membership 2 months ago as i reckoned i wasnt getting what i wanted out of it, but seeing as i have just been on holiday i quite fancy another try.

Seems a good time to barter eh ??

It costs me nearly £120 a month for Esporta, for me and the missus. My 12 month contract is up very soon so might have a go at negotiating a new rate if they wish to keep us.

Too expensive for me too but the Esporta are a good chain of gyms, 120 quid is per couple btw. My sister and her bloke are members of the Lancashire Health And Racket which is owned by Esporta, bloody opened my eyes when i went when they had a free open weekend, Indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms, tennis, squash. Basically your paying into the whole lifestyle.

Personally as much as i'd like to go to a gym like that i haven't got time to spend 2-3 hours at a time there which is what you need to do to get your moneys worth. I need to be in and out so my cheap 3.50 a go sweatshop of a gym where i can wear what the hell i like suits me just fine.

We pay £116 a month for me wife and kid in Esporta. My son goes to things each morning of the holidays at £10 - £15 a morning. He also goes to football on a Tuesday after nursery at the gym and we have to pay for that. My wife gets a personal trainer at the gym and costs £40 an hour twice a week. We must spend a fortune at the gym. Let me know if you manage to get a deal so I can barter with them.

I pay £38.50 at Total Fitness. I go 5 or 6 times a week. See it very much as value for money.
