cars registered in northern ireland?
as above are they classed as an import the same as a jap import?
and would i need to use an insurance company that specialises in imports?

Agreed, Norn Iron is part of the "united kingdom of great britian and northern ireland", we do have a different reg plate system from the "mainland" so some insurance companies may be a wee bit funny and our insurance is generally more too.

Makes no difference. I bought a bike in N.I. which was therefore on local plates and rode it home. I later applied for a UK registration and was issued a new V5 with the bike on a W plate as it was first registered in 2000. I notified the insurance and a replacement certificate was issued. No change to the premium at any time.

it has been over here for some time but is still on NL plates,am i right in thinking they still have the same v5 logbooks in NL as on mainland?
