Default Car Insurance Cover Question

My car is at the dealers until Thursday having quite a few things done (all recalls) My mate said i can lend one of his cars but it is not insured by him as its just in storage, i am fully comp, but does this mean i am legally allowd to drive his 3rd party?

Cheers

Nope, you are covered third party only on cars that are already insured.

Presumably by the very fact it's in storage it has no tax either, needs to be insured to get that and the insurance certificate needs to name the car in question.

if u NEED his car that much, you can do a monthly, weekly or even a few days insurance policy with some companies on the net, these policies are solely for use (really) for say, buying a car off someone and u want to be insured to drive it back and for the next few days before u store/sell/whatever means... can be paid for online and the certificate can be printed out there and then and you are covered

Rubbish! You are insured to drive the vehicle in the manner described in your policy document. Only if it is mentioned there, or on the certificate, would this stipulation be valid.

This was a lot more straight forward before vehicles had to be insured to be parked on the road, but if youre driving the car and youre insured, then you are insured.....
