BB Guns
Oh dear, eldest is in trouble, after years of banning these he came home with one fromthe Trafford centre, he conned his mates mum into buying it for him saying it wouldnt be a problem and she was daft enough to believe him !
So, we have had agro trying to explain why a 12 year old with one of these is a bit of a liability, now I dodnt think they were that powerful, so the missus said, go on then, shoot it at your foot (was in shorts, bare footed) so like a complete Deaconist, I did, owww, rewarded with a nice red welt on the top of my foot, it drew blood.
There is no way he is having something like that as it would genuinely cause major Eye trauma.
What are the point of these things, not a toy yet not an airgun, kind of pointless as kids cant play with it and you couldnt kill anything with it ?

Covered by airgun laws as they are over the thoy limit of 1ft/lb.
Mainly weekend warrior types, and small nockover style targets. Its a very serious industry with some rifles costing 7 - 900 quid!

We use to play with these as a kid. Running around the woods pretending to be the sas and all that. Harmless bit of fun when we were kids. We did wear goggles though just in case.
Nowadays I will use them when I go fishing to scare the birds away from my bait.
But no I wouldn't let any of mine have one.

They are not really a toy. I have a nice scar on my leg where I got shot with an air rifle.
I did used to have fun, and still have an airgun that I occasionally let any balloons that are around the house out on the lawn and pop them all.
I certainly wouldn't let my children play with one unsupervised.

there are differences in guns, from paintball to bb guns.
looked into it quite a bit recently, airsoft wise, due to wanting a cheaper alternative to paintball.
its not guns tht hurt people, its the users. when use correctly there is litle to no danger, however i would question the judgment of a 12 year old and not let him/her have one

Look on the bright side. When I was 13 I had a Sharps Innova pump up air rifle and I persuaded my grandfather to braze over the exhaust valve for me. That turned a 12ft-lb rifle into a 20+ft-lb bad boy.....
