I've been doing this for a while now and have found it possible to make a modest profit due largely to the instability of GBP. Does anyone else do this and if so what tools do you use and can you recommend any decent brokers?

I'm ready to take this beyond providing me with pin money and am itching to do some REAL gambling.

Believe me this is better than any other form of on-line gambling.

most important thing is spreads and quality of execution. try Financial Spread Betting, Spread Betting Firm Spread Betting In UK - WorldSpreads, they have 1 point spreads on some currency pairs, although havent tried them on quality of execution. Avoid spreadbetting firms like the plague. They make their own market and are notorious for manipulating it to their advantage. For example, your stop loss may mysteriously be hit although the underlying market never traded at that level.

InteractiveBrokers are about the best I think. They have an open API so you can choose your own trading front end. If you're daytrading (I don't), something like ButtonTrader - Day-Trading front-end - - IB frontend - direct access trading of stocks, futures and options around the World - TWS frontend - Trading frontend - Front End for IB is really good for seeing each pip.
