Alcoholic drinks
Anyone know which alcoholic drink has the least number of calories per unit?
As I'm now on a fairly strict weight loss and building regime, I'd like to know which drinks to avoid.
I don't want to negate all the gains (and losses ) that I've achieved over the last few weeks.
Now, in the ideal world, I'd give up booze altogether, but I've got a few parties etc to go to in the next few weeks and I want to have a few drinks to be sociable.
I don't drink during the week (ever - I don't go out) or weekends unless I'm going out .
Any help will be much appreciated

Ha!
I've just found a website with calorie counter and Stella comes in at a whopping 256 cals per pint.
Guinness, of which I used to drink loads of, is a gargantuan 210 cals per pint.
Special Brew is 394 per pint
Vodka and slimline Tonic (a bit 'ladies', but needs must) is a steady 58 cals.
Way to go.
Thanks for your help, chaps.

Calories from spirit alcohol can be turned into fat, amongst other things... and it doesn't directly 'hinder' fat loss... the 'other things' simply replace fat as an alternative fuel source.
If you drink 1,000 calories of beer vs. 1,000 calories of vodka a day the difference on your weight gain will be negligible.
It doesn't matter whether the intermediate energy stage is 'fat' or not... the same old equation still applies... calories in vs. calories out. Either it stores what you drink as fat, or it burns what you drink whilst it stores what you eat as fat!
Our bodies are designed to optimise storage over use and will use immediate sources of energy and store less immediate sources in any way it can. It is laughable to suggest that you can get bladdered on vodka and white wine spritzers in the hope your body will decide to randomly shed the excess calories!

The simple answer is don't drink.
And do not even consider non-alcoholic lager as you may as well be drinking the stuff with alcohol in.
However, it's not easy passing up on booze - I know being ex-licensed trade - and having mates who think you've gone gay if you've stopped drinking.
It's either a case of not drinking, paying for tonic water (expensive) or the high-sugar content cordials which are cheap (ignore the fruit juices and J20s as they are filled with sugar and even more expensive).

This is unlike carbs (especially as sugar in beer) are easily broken down by the body to create energy ergo you get lard ***.

I think I read in the paper the other day Gin had the least calories. My ex used to drink it quite often and was only 8 stone. I used to drink Stella quite a bit and got to 20 stone.
Something like a pint or can of strong lager was 400 calories & gin was only 150 I think for a measure including a slimline tonic.
